The Frogster was the
Opel showcar for the 2001 Frakfurt IAA . This litle green
cabriolet can be transformed from a 4 seater cabriolet into a
pick up or a 2 seater roadster and when parked it could be
completely closed with a full aluminium cover . There are also
sketches of this car with a red softop .
The Frogster was made by Matchbox and Norev . Matchbox made
an excellent model , even if simplified , chosing a 2 seater
form , rear seats covered . The green with red interior , was
the first to be released in the " Hero City Collection " and
even with all those logos the Frogster
is a nice model . I think I have all
variants , but if anyone knows other models please contact .

The white Frogster in
the right is an early prototype , maybe
one from the
beggining of development . The model is made of a piece of resin
and hasn't windshield . Wheels were added and glued to the base .
The first 2 cars in blisters on the left are from the " Bonus
Collection " . #19 , pic 2 , is dark metallic blue , black windows , red
interior , grey rear cover , "y" type wheels . Red Frogster on
both sides doesn't spoil the model . The #17 green " Bonus
Collection " Frogster , pic 3 , is one of my favorites , light metallic
green , black hood with Frogster badge , red interior , grey
rear cover and " drop " type wheels . These models were
sold in blisters and were made in China . |

Pic 4 , # 74 ,
from the " Hero City Collection " is the first Frogster released
. Metallic green body with red
interior , dark grey glazzing , grey rear cover and "y" type
wheels was made
in China and sold in big blister .

On this side of the
shelf , pic5 , 2 nice " Hero City Collection " models
, similar to the above model , both
metallic green , red 74 on the left door , Frogster on both
sides , dark windows and "y" type wheels , both made in
China and sold in orange boxes , the only difference is that the
cars on the right left have a Matchbox logo on both doors .

Pic 6 , in first
plan we have 4 colorful models , I think that all part of 5 car
sets . On the right , pic 7 , an yellow model I will call it " 48
Team Matchbox " yellow , red interior , blue tainted windows ,
grey rear cover and "y" type wheels . On both sides a graphic
with a baseball player . Pic 8 , from Nickelodeon , the Frogster "
Carl " , Carl is one of the heroes of " Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius "
serie . Light green body , yellow interior , windows and rear
cover , "drop" type wheels and Carl in blue and his face on both
sides . |

The third car , pic

lets call it " Patrick " is also from a Nickelodeon cartoon
series , " Sponge Bob " . The car is yellow , light grey windows
, light green interior , purple rear cover and " drop"
type wheels . Decor , green Patrick and a "dreaming" Patrick
sketch on both sides of
the body . The last car and the best , at least for me , the Wile E.
Coyote Frogster . From Warner Bros , famous cartoon " Wile E. Coyote
and Road
Runner " , known here in Portugal as " Bip - Bip " , the
Frogster Wile E. is orange , red interior , grey windows ,
yellow rear cover and "y" type wheels . For the decor , Wile E.
on the rear fenders and the " Coyote " on the doors . This is my
favorite ! |

The last model , pic 11 , a big blister #17
Opel Frogster " Treasure Inside " is similar to the
green " Bonus Collection " . Metallic green , red interior ,
grey windows and rear cover and "drop" type wheels .
